This week on the pod...
If you can't laugh about teaching, you'll probably cry about it.
Our guest on the pod this week helps us find the humor in our work and will have you LOLing in no time. We welcome Devin Siebold, high school social studies teacher, comedian, and YouTube star, to the show to talk about where he gets his comedic inspiration, his classroom persona, and why laughing at the absurdity of our jobs is so important for teachers. (Check him out on tour! All of his show dates and social links are up on his website: www.devincomedy.com!)
We also catch up with what's been on our minds since the last episode:
We close out the show by hearing from one of our listeners who called in with a problem she's been having at her school in California. She loves curriculum planning but, this year, her school has gone all-in on a very specific math curriculum across her entire network. What should she do now that they've taken away her favorite part about teaching? Is it time to go rogue? Or is there a silver lining somewhere in this network-wide curriculum decision?
All this and other things you'll need to survive Thanksgiving dinner answering the same question again and again and again from all of your relatives about whether or not you are "still teaching"... (Wipe that smug look off your face Grandma! Teaching is a noble profession! What do you mean I could have done more with my life?!?!)
What's on your mind now that you've got a little time to stop and think in between shoving turkey and pie into your face? Give us a call at (312) 772-6126 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the problems that hung over you this Thanksgiving Break.
